A Warning Dream from God Amid Political Discord

In the early morning hours of March 12, 2024, I had a vivid dream that I believe God wants me to share with His people.

As the dream started, I was in a large, nicely furnished cafeteria. I don’t remember whether or not I had food, but I wandered over to a table to sit down. Two women were already sitting at this large booth, one looked to be in her 40’s or 50’s and the other in her 20’s. I assumed they were a mother and her daughter, but I didn’t recognize either one of them.

As I began to sit down, the younger woman looked at me and said matter-of-factly, “You hate me.”

I was somewhat surprised by the her statement because I didn’t know her. And yet at the same time, I knew that she was referring to the difference in our political views. At that point in the dream I became aware of a very large room connected to the cafeteria that was filled with hundreds of people, maybe even close to a thousand. It seemed like we were all there as some sort of community gathering and were waiting for a town-hall-type meeting to start.

The room was filled with the noisy chatter of people talking, but I especially noticed several loud and angry-looking arguments taking place in different parts of the room. The arguments were all centered around political differences, mainly between conservatives and liberals. The tension in the room was thick, and even though most of the crowd was trying to be cordial, I could tell that the situation was volatile and could erupt at any moment.

At this point in the dream I realized that the point of the upcoming meeting was to attempt to tamp down the political discord in the community and to keep tempers from flaring and possibly even turning violent.

I recognized many of the people in the large gathering, from both sides of the arguments. As the dream ended, my heart was breaking from witnessing the discord and offense that seemed like a powder keg ready to blow.

It wasn’t until I woke up that I realized we were all dressed the same in the dream. I’m not sure about the pants, but everyone was wearing a beige pullover wool sweater. I’m still seeking an interpretation from God regarding that, but at least on the very surface it seems to show that all of us in the divided group were from the same close-knit community.

Interpretation

Almost immediately upon awakening, God made known to me that our current climate of discord, offense, and even hatred is not based on politics, it’s based on morality.

People on both sides of the political aisle can debate tax policy, foreign policy, economic policy and the like. But these days nothing divides and inflames as much as moral issues, which have been turned into political issues.

Most conservatives believe that abortion is morally wrong, while most liberals believe it’s morally wrong to not allow abortion. Most conservatives believe that homosexuality and transgenderism is morally wrong, while most liberals consider morally wrong to deny gay marriage and sex-change surgery for children.

You get the picture. These are moral issues that have become political issues. Again, the root of these disagreements stem from moral issues, not political issues.

So What’s God Saying?

  • We’re facing a moral dilemma more than we are facing a political dilemma.

  • Arguing is not the solution.

  • God’s moral code must become a matter of the heart before it becomes a matter of law. Paul clearly pointed out in the New Testament that laws and rules are powerless to bring change in our lives. Only the transformational works of the Holy Spirit in our heart will truly change us.

  • Satan is working hard to convince people that God’s morality is immoral.

  • Satan is working hard to convince people that those who follow God’s moral code hate those who don’t follow it. So from the liberal’s view, immoral people (conservatives) hate moral people (liberals).

The Main Point

As Christians who tend to be politically conservative, we need to carefully consider our actions around those who reject biblical morality and are politically liberal.

  • More and more, liberals are assuming that Christians hate them. Unfortunately, the behavior of some Christians may feed into that. Not only does God NOT want you to feed into that sentiment, He wants you to do the opposite and feed love into them. You can strongly disagree with someone and still show love to them.

  • I feel like God is doing more than giving us advice; He’s giving us a WARNING. He’s warning us that if we as Christians don’t show love and respect to those who disagree with us morally and politically, we’ll lose our influence in this nation and greatly decrease our ability to advance His Kingdom in America.
